To anyone who may still be checking this blog, we will begin a new adventure soon. Although it is not related to the title of this blog we've decided to simply add to it because so many people have this address. You may have wondered about the picture in the last entry of our new addition. We've found ourselves another motorhome and are planning to explore our own continent this time. Perhaps this new section of the blog could be called 'field trip USA'. We hope for a 'field trip Canada' at some point but it is getting cold here now. It's time to head south with the geese. Stay tuned!

We have returned safely home. Our trip back was not as smooth as on the way out. Our flight from L.A. to New York turned around an hour out, going back to L.A. to fix something. Consquently we missed our fight from NY to Halifax (home). We stayed over at a Holiday Inn and ate a large dinner, compliments of our airline. My Dad and Brother made 2 trips to the Halifax airport with 2 vehicles to pick us up. The airplane phone only worked up to the point of ringing in my father's house, beyond that there was no communication. It's amazing how lost one feels without a cell phone.

It's taken a few months to get my head around the fact that we just spent 8 months in Australia. When people ask 'how was the trip?' we can only smile and say 'fantastic!'. It really was. Our photos scroll on our computer screen reminding us of all those special moments together. Our first sight of the Opera House, the fruit bats in Sydney, our motorhome that served us so well, the kangaroos, the koalas, the friends we've met, new and interesting road kill, the emus running through desert sand and also embellishing our campsites with berry-speckled doo-doos, the birds (we loved the birds!), heat dry like a hair dryer to roads so flooded you have to wait to cross, and of course, Jim's hospitality and entertainment (not to mention his movie collection and neighbours!), and Cindy's and Sean's support and help. There's so much more but I've already said it in previous pages. It was such a great experience I'd like to write it all down again right here as my mind replays the good times. But I won't.

It was a shared experience we will keep with us forever.

Just A Few Days Left...

Taronga Zoo, Sydney, June 13th

Taronga Zoo is in north Sydney, a ferry ride from downtown. Jim spent the weekend with us and this was our first stop. The girls patted a corn snake and got to hold an olive python. Mercedes agreed to help Kyra hold it but only if she could have the tail end. The possum was just roaming about free, an escapee or visitor?

Saying Goodbyes, June '08

Our last time at Jim's house.

The girls said goodbye and gathered emails from Shaminy and Jacinta, and then from Kieran and Lateisha across the street and in the photo. Sorry if I spelled any names wrong. They also got to participate in net ball practice with Lateisha's team, her mom couching. Thanks again for that, the girls had a great time and learned to play a new sport.

We enjoyed meals from some of our favourite restaurants one last time (Wok It Up, Yum), mailed home our extra junk, and packed our suitcases once again. Then we headed for Sydney for our last week before flying home. The girls will miss their room at Jim's with its playstation and Simpson posters, but they'll miss Jim more.
